Public Cooking Lessons
Food, the connection. Pursuits, your host. You, our guest. Pursuits’ Table is an intimate dinner party-style cooking class for all levels in the comfort of a cozy home kitchen. You are welcome to bring your own bottle, playlist and culinary creativity, as we provide the teaching and exquisite hospitality. Our classes provide a fun filled and relaxed time spent with new people from the community, friends and family. We cozily fit 8 people in our home kitchen in downtown Long Beach.
Our cooking experiences create a comfortable, practical, social and teaching environment where participants can learn to become more adventurous, confident and capable in the kitchen.
During a 3 hour cooking experience, we fill 2 hours with simple culinary techniques, kitchen tips, fun instruction, engaging hands-on cooking of 4-5 recipes using fresh ingredients and bold flavors, followed by 1 hour enjoying a fabulously delicious meal together at a fully curated table.
The cost of our cooking experiences include recipes, ingredients, set-up, instruction and clean-up.
The best of learning, hospitality, and delicious food in one cooking experience.

Foodie Swaps
Liz started the Long Beach Foodie Swap in 2013, with a mission to increase consumption of high-quality locally made goods while strengthening relationships in the community. Foodie swaps are generally held bi-monthly on a Saturday and each swap honors a local producer, who joins to provide insights and details of their goods + services. An amazing opportunity to bring a sampling of your best homemade goods and be inspired by others’ creativity. Contact us if you would like to be added to invite list for future swaps.

For all things Edible Pursuits, we source a mix of local, seasonal, organic and fair trade foods with a focus on sustainability. Sustainable food nourishes us, protects the natural environment and supports thriving local economies and communities. At Pursuits, we believe that sustainable food is made up of various combinations of the following values:
At Pursuits, we partner with and support a network of passionate producers that help us serve the best local and seasonal produce when and where possible. Local fruits and vegetables are harvested naturally within seasons. In season produce is fresh, tastes better and provides better nutrition. By elevating local producers, we hope to drive demand for their produce and organic practices and support a thriving local economy.
Organic farming produces high quality produce while protecting soil and water and respecting the ecosystems within which the food is grown. Organic food production does not use artificial fertilizers and pesticides, has high animal welfare standards, aims to protect our health, and works in harmony with the environment.
Fair Trade products guarantee improved labor conditions and higher pay in plantation agriculture and among producer cooperatives in developing (and some developed) countries. Fair trade certified producers must support local economic development efforts, democratic processes, and direct relations between buyers and sellers. For relevant imported products, Pursuits will seek Fair Trade Certification.
Minimizing food and packaging waste is key to saving natural resources and energy.
We aim to minimize our waste by forecasting quantities of ingredients, implementing zero-waste menu development, recycling, and composting organic waste.
